Richard Hartog is a freelance photographer based in Los Angeles, Ca.

In a career that includes over ten years as a staff photographer at the Los Angeles Times and also a decade as a staff photographer at The Outlook/DailyBreeze newspapers in Santa Monica, Ca., Hartog has covered major national and international news, feature, sports, and entertainment.

Hartog has won hundreds of awards for his photography. He has received honors from the National Press Photographers Association, California Press Photographers Association, Associated Press News Executive Council, Best of the West, Society of Newspaper Design, California Newspapers Publishers Association, the Greater Los Angeles Press Club, and the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles.

In 2004, Hartog’s dramatic lead photos of the California wildfires were included in the LA Times’ team coverage that won the Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Reporting.

Hartog has been named Photographer of the Year by three different organizations.

Richard Hartog lives 150 feet from the sand on the beautiful Marina Peninsula in Marina del Rey, Ca. Just a few blocks from the Venice Pier, he does many of his shoots in and around his home.
